Understanding Nicotine Pouch Strengths

There are two main ways to gauge the strength of nicotine - mg/g and mg/ per pouch:

• - Mg/g: This stands for milligrams of nicotine per gram. For instance, 10mg/g means there are 10 milligrams of nicotine in each gram of the ingredients in the nicotine pouch. The nicotine content depends on the weight of the pouch. 
• - Mg/pouch: Mg/pouch indicates the milligrams of nicotine per pouch. For example, 10mg/pouch signifies that the nicotine pouch contains 10 milligrams of nicotine. This is a simpler and more straightforward way of determining the amount of nicotine you're getting in each pouch without having to do the maths! 

The lowest strength we stock here at Haypp around 1.5 mg/pouch while the strongest tobacco free snus we have is Elf Bar Tacja's Menthol, which has a strength of 20mg/pouch. 

Safety Regulations for Nicotine Strength

Haypp adheres to specific product and market standards made through institutions such as SIS (Swedish Institute for Standards), CEN, and ISO. This means that we have regulations in place on how much nicotine is in each pouch as well as the pH level for each pouch, and this is a standard that most well-established brands maintain too.

Our range is tested by NicoLeaks, and we only stock products with under 20mg of nicotine per pouch and a pH level of 9.1 (unless a risk assessment of the final product is made which supports the pH used), plus the testing also looks at the ingredients and foreign substances which should be very low or non-existent in the products (but you can find more details by checking out their lab reports!) To put these values into perspective, regular tobacco snus in countries such as Sweden has a nicotine strength of between 8mg and 12mg per pouch, and even a cigarette can be comparable with 16.7mg per pouch.

Deciding on a Pouch

How often do I use nicotine products? The more often you use nicotine products, the more likely you are to have a stronger nicotine tolerance. If you're unsure where to start, we generally recommend nicotine pouch users to try something from our normal strength range: it's easier to increase your strength if needed than to start too strong right away. 

Once you have chosen a strength, you can then select a flavour based on what's available in that strength category: just keep in mind that the flavour you choose can impact how strong the nicotine pouch feels. For example, a citrus flavour and mint flavour can add to the strength you feel from the pouch, so it is important to keep this in mind when choosing a pouch.
