About Svante
- Role: President of Haypp UK

- Fun fact: Played the drums in my younger years. British music from the 60s and 70s are a favourite.
1. Can you tell us a bit about your background and what attracted you to the role of President at Haypp UK?
“I’ve spent the greater part of my career in the nicotine industry, and I’ve rarely seen such an interesting market opportunity as we know are seeing in the UK. Nicotine pouches are clearly resonating with UK consumers and have the potential to create a lasting impact on UK public health by further accelerating the transition away from smoking. As a native Swede, I’ve experienced first-hand what impact nicotine pouches and snus can have on smoking rates in society. It's hugely exciting to play a part in creating that same experience for UK consumers. Not to mention the privilege of working with our incredibly talented UK team."
2. The UK market for nicotine pouches and nicotine-free alternatives is evolving quickly. What excites you most about where this category is heading?
“The rapid pace of change in consumer behaviour is astonishing. If you go back 5-6 years, there were hardly any users of nicotine pouches in the UK whereas now it's becoming a mainstream product for people who wish to transition away from smoking. I think a well-regulated market for nicotine pouches could prove to have profound impact on smoking rates in the UK over the next decade.”
3. From a leadership perspective, what does “responsible growth” mean when it comes to offering nicotine pouches — and how does Haypp UK put that into practice?
"Responsibility is not just something we claim is important, it's in our DNA. For instance, we send every product we sell to an independent lab to ensure it meets our strict product standards in terms of product content and nicotine strength. Furthermore, we go above and beyond to ensure that no product distributed by us ends up in the hands of underage. We partner with some of the world’s leading technology providers to ensure robustness in our age verification process. Above all, we understand that responsible business practices in our industry are not only a matter of sustainability, but it’s also the right thing to do.”
4. If a customer could see one thing about how decisions are made at Haypp UK, what would you want them to notice?
"At the heart of every decision we make is the consumer and how we can make their experience with us even better. If for any reason we do not live up to expectations, I genuinely encourage people to reach out to us, either to our excellent customer service team or directly to me and we will make sure to promptly correct whatever has gone wrong.”
5. What’s one habit or routine that helps you stay focused and clear-headed in a fast-moving industry like ours?
“As a father of three young kids, I wish I could do more of it, but physical exercise is my secret weapon for staying focused.”
Bonus Question: What are you most looking forward to about moving to the UK?
"I’m excited about the personal adventure of moving to the UK with my family, embracing a new environment and culture together. Professionally, I’m looking forward to the challenge of stepping into this role and hopefully creating a strong impact in a new context."
